La Voisin was a French fortune teller and the woman you went to for love potions for your paramour… or hexes for your enemies. When Madame de Montespan feared she was losing the interest of King Louis XIV she begged La Voisin for a love potion. When that didn’t work, she hired the woman’s services once again…but this time for poison.
The Affair of the Poisons was a scandal that exposed countless members of the French Royal Court for using witchcraft to murder the King. Madame de Montespan was sent away… La Voisin was burned at the stake.
